Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale
The 100 Black Men
of Greater Fort Lauderdale has partnered
with Academic One to improve the educational
experiences of our youth. Many times
our youth need academic assistance
in order to maximize their intellectual
capability. Often times, this academic
assistance can be very costly for
a family. Through our partnership
with Academic One will seek to offer
affordable on-line tutoring for our
youth. More importantly it will provide
an opportunity for South Florida corporations
to get involved in this program by
purchasing tutoring gift cards at
a significant discount through the
100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale.
The online tutoring
program will offer assistance in Math
and Science for 4th grade through
college. Students will be assigned
an ID and 'password' that will allow
them both unlimited usage and unlimited
access to the on-line tutoring programs
during its hours of operations. Once
the student successfully accesses
the program, they will select a subject
and enter an online class room where
they can submit questions while watching
and interacting with the instructor
as they work through the question(s)
on an electronic chalkboard. Adhering
to the old adage: The objective is
to ‘Teach the student to fish
for themselves, not to keep them dependent
by giving them a fish everyday’.
This program will allow them to have
a “Tutor in Their Backpack”!
Online
tutoring is available for the following
subjects:
Math
– Basic Math, Algebra,
Algebra(1&2), Geometry, Trigonometry,
Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics
and Probability.
Science
– Basic Science, Biology, Chemistry,
and Physics
